Revival. revival. Thats all you hear about in the “world” of Pentecost today. It is a word that gets thrown around in the Charismatic-Pentecostal religion all the time. Just recently, there was a “revival” in Florida (The Florida Healing-Outpouring), headed by a man named Todd Bentley. It fell apart after some very public sins of Todd were revealed. We need to pray for him, and his family, and for those who were touched by that “revival”.
What is revival? It is sort of an “awakening” of a slowly declining church…God’s people awakening to a spiritual renewal; a relationship with Him that wasn’t there before. There have been many revivals…The 1st and 2nd Great Awakening, Azusa Street Revival, Brownsville Revival. But, since Azusa St….America hasn’t truly seen a genuine revival. Why? Have we lost our way? Are we focused on the wrong things?
Whatever the answer, I believe it starts with prayer and forgiveness. I believe holding a grudge (unforgiveness) is the #1 item holding back Christians in todays church. We need to get down on our knees, pray for a pure heart, and forgive those we feel have offended us. Then, we need to stay on our knees and pray that God will open up the heavens and rain His grace and mercy upon us and our country.
Revival will NOT start with fancy TV broadcasts.
Revival will NOT start with only healings and great worship.
Revival will start from the Word of God..preached to the masses and a turning of our hearts.
Oh Lord, I desire revival.
